Melatonin is a hormone whose production is controlled by light, and is associated with the control of circadian rhythm and sleep. When experiencing difficulty falling asleep, Melatonin helps reduce the time it takes to fall asleep. This beneficial effect is obtained with a daily dose of 1 mg of melatonin at bedtime.
